Intellectual property is a valuable resource for start-ups: for valuation, partnership and competitive advantage.  Many start-ups know that they should be managing their Intellectual Property – in particular filing patents – but few have the skills or time to do so efficiently.  P2P Consultancy runs in-person patent workshops to generate ideas (“harvesting”) and works with management on the appropriate company strategy, selecting harvested ideas that are best aligned.  P2P Consultancy can then work through the process of taking each patent idea through the write-up, discussion and filing stages with patent lawyers, saving valuable staff time and helping the company internalise the skills and gain the experience needed to manage the process in future.

We work with your team to generate ideas which become “IDFs” (Invention Disclosure Forms), which form the basis for the patent application. Each workshop typically produces multiple IDFs, and these first need to ber selected, based on their alignment with the organisation’s strategic goals. Once a set have been chosen, P2P Consulting then writes them up ready for discussions with legal counsel and works your team through the process all the way to pre-filing review, at which point the patent lawyer can file the patent applications.

Our goal is to work through the process with you, enabling you to manage it, or parts of it, for future iterations, supporting you to gain internal expertise. Engagements can be tuned for particular requirements as required, either on an hourly basis or as a package.
