Mike Bursell and P2P Consulting

P2P Consulting was founded by Mike Bursell in 2023, capitalising on a career in security spanning 25 years. P2P Consulting is based in the UK, but provides services worldwide as required.

Mike has worked as a software engineer, product manager, architect, CEO and co-founder and as Executive Director of the Confidential Computing Consortium, a Linux Foundation project. He was co-founder of the Enarx project, an open source project in the Confidential Computing space. He has held roles a companies ranging from start-ups to multi-nationals, including Citrix, Red Hat and Intel. He is the inventor of over 110 granted US patents and previously served on the Red Hat patent review committee.

Mike maintains a blog, Alice, Eve and Bob, which he describes as “security-leaning”, and which explains technical topics with accuracy and humour, but in a way which is accessible to non-technologists (“your parents or your manager”). He is author of Trust in Computer Systems and the Cloud, a book exploring the social and technical underpinnings of risk, security and trust in modern computing, published by Wiley in 2021, and the first to address the growing field of Confidential Computing. He regularly speaks at industry events in Europe, North America and APAC.

Professional interests include: Confidential Computing, WebAssembly, Linux, trust, open source software, security, distributed systems, blockchain, virtualisation.

Mike has an MA from the University of Cambridge and an MBA from the Open University.
